Mussel & Chamomile Tea

About the Recipe

There is no hard and fast rule on dosages for this but as it is an absolute powerhouse we would recommend small mould sizes be used for freezing and give 1 mould twice a week roughly

Ingredients

  • 1 bag of high quality, green lipped mussels - ensure the mussels have been cooked and de-shelled, or come cooked & frozen frozen in line with our fresh produce guidance



  • 1 litre of cooled chamomile tea - use either fresh chamomile steeped in boiling water for 20-30 minutes before straining to remove the leaves, or use any chamomile tea bags from the supermarket, about 3 teabags per litre you are making


  • Handful of chopped mint leaves - fresh is best



  • 4 handfuls mixed frozen berries - Focus on Blueberries, Raspberries and Strawberries

Preparation

  • Make 1 litre of chamomile tea using 2-3 teabags and let the bags stew for a few minutes.


  • Remove the bags and let the tea cool fully before using.


  • Defrost the mussels and shell them if they have not already been shelled for you.


  • Add mixed frozen berries, mint & kelp seaweed.


  • Blend carefully to ensure no spitting and beware it may smell bad to you if like me you don’t like fishy smells and sniff it! Just think of the goodness though!


  • When fully blended, pour into silicone moulds and freeze - feed 1 portion every couple of days. There is no hard and fast rule on it but a small mould should be used as this is an absolute powerhouse tea


  • Once fully frozen you can store in bags or tubs in the freezer for portion control ease.


Give 1 portion roughly every 3 days if your dog has no current issues as a supportive addition
